• On the Home tab, click Restore.

  • In the Restore from backup section, select Guest files (Windows) or Guest files (other OS) > Finish.

  • That window will close and you will be presented with a File Level Restore wizard. Select the job the server is in and select the VM that you will be restoring from.

  • At the Restore Point step of the wizard, select the restore point from which you want to restore the VM guest OS files.

  • At the Restore Reason step of the wizard, enter a reason for restoring VM guest OS files. The information you provide will be saved in the session history and you can reference it later.
  • Specify Restore Reason
    • If you do not want to display the Restore Reason step of the wizard in future, select the Do not show me this page again check box.

  • Review details of the restore task and click Finish to start restoring VM guest OS files from the backup.

  • This can take some time to load and work depending on the size of the VM/disks.
  • You will be presented with a file structure of the VM guest OS that you can browse.

  • Locate the file or folder that you would like to restore.
  • Right-click the file and select Restore > Keep if you would like to keep both copies. Veeam will add Restored- to the prefix of the original file's name.
  • Right-click the file and select Restore > Overwrite if you would like to overwrite the current version of the file with the backed up copy.
  • Select Copy To… if you would like to copy this file to a new location that you can specify.

  • Once the restore is complete you can close the Backup Browser window and it will dismount the backup.
